Adelina Shiza

Adelina Shiza

Early Life[]

Adelina Castillo was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 21, 2066. Since the day she was born, Adelina brought with her new beginnings and change. Born on the day of Visaria’s official creation, the ending of the Reclamation Crusades, she was born to a recently widowed mother upon the recently conquered streets of San Antonio, corpses still lining the streets in some areas. As the Visarian Army continued to secure and pacify any remaining pockets of resistance. The Siege of San Antonio was the final battle in General Traizel’s Reclamation Crusade. A final city for the warlord to claim as his own and do with it as he deemed necessary. During this, Adelina’s mother, Catherine, travelled deeper into Visarian territory seeing it necessary for her daughter to be raised well. Eventually she settled within the capital city of Diapolis as she began working to pay for Adelina’s education.

Over the next decade, Adelina was raised by her single, hard-working mother and was one of the first children taught entirely by the Visarian education system. Despite her mother working 2, sometimes 3 jobs, to pay to live, her mother still made the time of day to look after her and spend time with her. It was this hospitality, this selflessness, that always stuck with Adelina. How time can always be made for those you love. That was the legacy that Catherine left when she passed away when Adelina was only 12 years old. The circumstances of her death are mundane for the impact she left upon her daughter and others in her life. Shortly after her mothers death, she was put into an orphanage and it was there she remained until one day, when she turned 18, government agents gave her and other children her age an opportunity that she could not resist…

When Adelina was 18, in the year 2084, an agent contacted her about joining a new Inquisition formed by Solomon Traizel. After accepting the agent's opportunity, she and several other teenagers were given over to the recently formed Inquisition to become agents of the Inquisition. Be it Scions, elite commandos who serve as the foot soldiers of the Inquisition, or Spectres, infiltration and espionage specialists, or Inquisitors themselves, the judge, jury and oftentimes executioner of the government.

The most coveted and elite position of these all however, was that of a Praetorian. The Praetorians serve as an extension of their assigned persons will. The Praetorians are trained for any scenario, espionage, assassination, infiltration and protection. This position is the most coveted due to its ability to circumvent the authority of the Inquisition depending upon who they are assigned to. Those Praetorians assigned to King Solomon Traizel himself, known as The Sentinels are outright feared by the Inquisition. When Adelina heard about these Sentinels, she recalled what her mother had taught her, “Go to the highest point you can, because if you end up giving up on your way to the top, you'll already be better off than most people.” She would accept nothing less, than being one of the Kings Praetorians.

Adulthood[]

Adelina married Adrien Shiza in the year 2092 and became Adelina Castillo Maria Shiza. They bore two sons, Jared and Jenson, over the next few years. A few months after Shiza’s ascension to the throne, another child was born. This time a baby girl who Adelina named Catherine, in honor of her mother. Jensen and Jared had ascended through the ranks of the Visarian military and were leading their armies in conquest against the other nations of the world. Adrien seemingly wished to conquer the globe, for what reason Adelina did not know. Every time she would ask he would shut it down and tell her that it was a matter of national security. Before, Adrien would be open with her, tell her everything that's bothering him and she would support him like what a good wife is supposed to do. Now he hardly even speaks to her. Something changed in her husband, what that was she did not know. So she turned to her sons, who were with him all throughout the campaigns. They did not have much information, all they knew was that their father was more ruthless than before. Giving out orders to bombard non-military targets. Even ordering his men to slaughter innocents just to prove a point. Jared more specifically spoke out against this, seeing it as unnecessary violence and bloodshed. Jensen was indifferent, there were orders to follow after all and war is messy. Either way, both Jared and Adelina knew that something wasn't right.

After a gruesome six year global war, the entirety of planet earth was under the rule of Visaria and its king, Adrien Shiza. However, not everyone bowed to this rule. Rebellions were active all across the globe. Disorganized in most cases, but still a threat to the security of Visaria. Within the family itself, there too was rebellion. Jared, who actively spoke out against the atrocities that the Visarian armies were committing during the wars, had become distant from the family. Adelina was the only one who consistently spoke to her son. He was bitter and jaded, so much so that he told Adelina that he intended on rebelling and attempting to assassinate Adrien. Adelina tried to talk him down from it but Jared simply would not listen, he was utterly convinced that Adrien wasn't the father that raised him and that he was being controlled. Shortly after saying that, Jared cut off the rest of the family. Adelina went to Adrien quickly and warned him. In response, Adrien brought Jensen with him to bring Jared in. Little did they already know that Jared was on his way to the palace at command of his army. The battle that commenced afterwards between the three and their armies was gruesome and bloody, eventually resulting in Jared killing Jensen and Adrien killing Jared. Adelina did all she could to prevent them from killing each other, but neither of them saw a way out of this that did not require bloodshed. As Adelina saw her husband and sons killing each other, she wondered to herself, what if Jared was right? The Adrien she knew would have tried to talk down his sons, not open up with an artillery barrage. With her sons dead and her husband descending into a mad tyrant, Adelina couldn't help but hold Catherine close and weep.

After the death of her sons in 2120, Adelina knew that something needed to change and that the man who had enslaved the world was not the man she fell in love with. So she began to work with nobility, members of the military and several rebellion groups to plot an assassination upon Adrien. There were other attempts of course, decoys and false flags to help prove that Adelina was still loyal to him. The true attempt was planned for 2137, where they would all team up and attempt to eliminate Adrien Shiza, those loyal to him and his Sentinels. Before the attack, Adelina had evacuated the 22 year old Catherine out to go live with the rebel group “The Lightbringers.” Catherine was to remain safe there and if the attempt were to fail, then Catherine would continue the fight. Adelina lead the first rebellion against Shiza in 2137 and barely survived.

Finally, the day came. The moon quickly turned into a warzone as people all across fought against those who were loyal to the God Emperor. Adelina specifically led a strike team into the heart of the palace where Adrien coordinated the defense. Fending off Praetorians and Scions, Adelina and her strike team eventually arrived into the throne room itself. There, she engaged Adrien while his Sentinels and her team fought amongst each other. Their battle was lengthy, both of them becoming extremely bloodied as the conflict wore on. The first one to hesitate was Adelina. As the battle came to a climax, Adelina was about to strike down Adrien when she saw, for but a moment, the eyes of the man she married. As she gazed into them, she only saw regret. This was quickly swept away when Adrien quickly grabbed his blade and stabbed her. Their battle continued until Adrien too had her by the throat, but he hesitated as well, why she did not know. All that she knew was that right after his hesitation, she was sent flying back and out a window by one of Adrien’s Sentinels. As she fell down the palace tower, she watched as Adrien, her beloved husband, friend and father to her children, quickly shrunk away from her view as everything turned black.

Over the next 2 years, Adelina was in a comatose state. The Lightbringers had retrieved her damaged body and brought her back to their headquarters. The uprising had failed and a culling occurred afterwards leaving only Adrien and his inner circle in control of the Visarian government. Catherine and the Lightbringers, using whatever resources they had, attempted to find a way to bring Adelina back to life. They could communicate with her via neural links, speaking to her subconscious while she remained comatose. As smart as Catherine was, she knew that her mother would be the only one who could bring an end to Adrien. She had the training, the knowledge and she personally knew the man more than Catherine ever had. Adelina initially resisted being brought back. She had failed, she did not want to see her husband continue to fall and she wanted to be dead with the hope that her daughter got to live a happy life. After much discussion, Adelina agreed to be resuscitated but only if she was given an emotional inhibitor. She doesn’t want to feel anything when she kills Adrien. She just doesn't want her heart to break anymore. She doesn't want to feel pain anymore. She just wants it all to go away.

She was kept safe by a man named Vito Vegapunk, who eventually recovered her and Adelina changed her name to Loba. In 2139, Loba came online. Formerly known as Adelina Castillo Maria Shiza, she has chosen to be forgotten. She has all of the memories but none of the emotions associated with them. Given a cyborg body outfitted with features that she doesnt fully know about, Loba awoke with only one task on her mind, kill Adrien Shiza. This goal would face immediate obstacles however when the Lightbringer base that she was awakened in was attacked by Visarian forces. Loba and the Lightbringers attempted to fend them off and escape. Her and Catherine fled but, due to her still not having all of her faculties or motor functions, they were far too slow and Visaria’s forces found them. Separating them from each other, Catherine was taken and Loba was EMPd and put on a shuttle for some sort of Gleaning. The soldiers seemingly did not know who she was, why would they after all? Her death mask covered what remained of her face and the rest of her body was entirely mechanical. As Loba sat in the transport, her mission parameters changed. She needed to find Catherine. She did not know why this was, but something deep within her was telling her that finding Catherine was the priority…

Personality[]

Adelina herself is a very caring and understanding person. Tough when she needs to be and a fighter to the end, Adelina is not one to give up on anything as long as she had set her mind to it. She cares for everyone and believes that there is good in people, no matter how bad they get, she always insists that they can get better.

Loba is Adelina with her emotions completely turned off. She is nothing but a machine, determined to fulfill her mission no matter the cost. She will stop at nothing, oftentimes forgetting who exactly she is doing this for. She is cold, calculating and ruthless.
